What are my coverage options?

Auto Insurance Coverage Options

Each state has its own requirements for the minimum car insurance coverage you must carry. When you compare insurance quotes, you'll need to know what these minimums are. Here are the most common coverages you may be required to carry:

  • Personal Injury Protection (PIP): PIP covers the hospitalizations, pain and suffering, and medical costs that you or your passengers may experience if you're in an accident.
  • Bodily Injury: If you're in an accident and cause injuries to individuals in other cars, bodily injury coverage will cover those costs.
  • Property Damage: If you're in an accident and cause damage to someone else's car or property, property damage coverage will pay to repair the damage.
  • Uninsured Motorist Coverage: If you're in an accident with an uninsured driver, uninsured motorist coverage allows your insurance company to pay you for an accident that the uninsured driver is responsible for.
Check the regulations of your state to find out which of the above coverages are required, as well as the required minimum coverages for each.
